AW Parker (Drybrook) Band

Formed in the 1870’s as a Drum & Fife Band there are records of the Drybrook & District Silver Band winning prizes at a competition in Lydney in 1895 and the village has had a band ever since. The band has always competed at contests with varying degrees of success with records showing the band attending the top section of the National Championship of Great Britain in 1963 playing Belmont Variations.

The band re-grouped after the retirement of many older players and in 2002 managed to persuade enough players to join so that Drybrook once again had a 4th Section contesting band. Visits to the National Finals have now become more regular with qualification in the 4th Section 2004 & 2005, 2012 in the 3rd Section, 2015 in the 2nd Section and 2023 in the 1st Section.

2024 marked two celebrations for the band – we had officially been the AW Parker (Drybook) Band for 20 years this year and March 2024 saw the band compete in the Championship Section for the first time in our history.

Our Musical Director Joshua Ruck and the band hope you enjoy our performance this year
