Tewkesbury Town Band
Tewkesbury Town Band always enjoys playing at Pershore Midsummer Brass, having been at every event since it’s inception. We are delighted to have our Training Band performing again this year as well. We aim to offer anyone the opportunity to learn to play a brass instrument, or to enjoy listening to our entertaining programmes.
The band is a charitable incorporated organisation and comprises three bands; a Beginner Band, an Intermediate Training Band and the Senior Band. Each band brings together players of all ages from 6 to over 80 and aim to ensure that making music and friendships is fun and accessible for all. Through its volunteer members, the organisation provides free brass tuition, instrument loan and musical development.
The bands can be heard throughout Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and further afield as well as making regular concert tours to Germany (and once to Ireland!). Our training bands also enjoy an annual band camp, which has taken them to Sidmouth, Yorkshire, Nottingham and beyond! The Band has also enjoyed hosting bands from Norway, Belgium, Holland, Ireland and Germany. The Band was invited to compete at the National Finals in both 2021 and 2022.
In 2024, the Band celebrated its 50th Anniversary with the commissioning of a piece of music from Andrea Price, titled Severn Stories (Songs of an Ancient River), which was premiered in Tewkesbury Abbey in our celebration concert in October.
