Arrow Valley Brass
Arrow Valley Brass are based in Inkberrow, Worcestershire, having moved there in 2007 from their previous home in Alcester. Founded in 1977 as Alcester Victoria Youth Band with a small ensemble of children in Alcester Town Hall, later becoming Arrow Valley Brass in 1989. Founded by Mr. David Stanley, his passion for music led him to conduct the band for over 40 years until he took a step back in 2019. Sadly, Dave passed away in 2023, he is greatly missed.
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Alex Bland as the new Musical Director of Arrow Valley Brass. Alex started his musical career with Croft Silver Band, discovering his talent for trombone he secured the 1st Trombone seat with Youth Brass 2000, and the Bass Trombone seat with the NYBBGB. Alex moved on to perform with multiple top section bands including Enderby Band, Kirkintilloch Band, and Derwent Brass. Alex has had multiple successes within his conducting career including taking bands to the National Finals within the last two years. Alex has already brought some exciting plans and a wealth of experience to the band, and we are very excited to get started under his direction.
Some of our previous notable achievements include qualifying for the fourth section National Finals in 1989 and 1990 as well as placing second at the 2005 third section National Finals. In 2024 we hosted a fundraiser concert in memory of David Stanley raising over £300 for the Music for Schools Foundation, a charity close to the hearts of Dave and his family. Currently the band contests in the fourth section as well as performing concerts throughout the year and presenting our summer program in parks around the county.
We always welcome new players of any age and ability to join us for rehearsal on Sunday mornings in Inkberrow. For more information please visit: www.arrowvalleybrass.co.uk or email chair@arrowvalleybrass.co.uk. Don’t forget to check us out on socials too!
