Shirley Band
Shirley Band are delighted to be performing once again at Pershore Midsummer Brass Festival. We are an active contesting band currently competing in the First Section. Established in 1919, the Shirley Band is a traditional British brass band from the town of Shirley in the Borough of Solihull in the West Midlands.
We were delighted to welcome our new Musical Director, Kieron Howe, last autumn and have already enjoyed many successful and rewarding concerts together.
We enjoy putting on great quality concerts and keep busy throughout the year, regularly playing to sell out audiences at St Philip’s Church Centre in Dorridge and Shirley Baptist Church in Shirley. Our highlights include our annual Last Night of the Proms concert in September and, in December, our much-loved Children’s Christmas Concert (a real favourite with us as well!), followed by our traditional Brass at Christmas concert. Alongside these, we also perform at a wide range of events across Solihull, Birmingham and the wider West Midlands, as well as supporting local community events and activities.
